ASSOCIATION The association: The Macquarie Valley Cotton Grower's
Association boasts 100% membership of the cotton growers in that valley, with
75 associate members. Our Mission Policy: -
To promote
sustainable cotton growing in the Macquarie Valley -
To formulate
a code of practices to be adopted by all cotton growers in the Macquarie Valley
in order to set standards that are consistent with the care of the environment
and the need to maintain a viable cotton industry -
To make representations
to various Commonwealth, State and Local Government authorities on all matters
relevant to the cotton growing industry -
To the formulation of
guidelines and policy on all matters relevant to the cotton industry -
To the liason, association and support of other bodies, institutions and authorities
representing or effecting the interests of cotton growers -
To the
promotion of the interests of cotton growers -
To the promotion
of fellowship amongst cotton growers or persons or groups associated with or involved
with them -
To the education of cotton growers and the dissemination
of information relevent to the cotton industry to them and to persons or groups
associated with the industry -
To encourage all cotton growers and
all industry participants to observe and maintain proper practices How
we service our members: Industry relevant information is channelled
through the association for distribution to members. Organisation of meetings,
training courses and liasing with all industry bodies are also part of its function.
Assisting growers with help, if needed, and communication between the growers
and the community regarding local issues or industry issues in general. How
we service our surrounding community: From our fundraising efforts during
the period from 1991-1998, this association has funded local community projects
to the value of $119,850. Significant contributions have been made to the
Warren Sporting and Cultural Centre, Narromine Hospital Day Care Bus, Trangie
Action Group as well as financial contributions to the schools in the surrounding
townships of Warren, Nevertire, Collie, Marra Creek, Quambone, Narromine and Trangie.
Not forgetting the newborn, baby gift packages are presented to new mothers in
Warren, Narromine and Trangie Hopitals.
